The Muslim World Does Not Have to Embrace or Absolutely Oppose Western Paradigms

In the seminar titled "Muslims amidst a Transforming Multipolar World", Wadah Khanfar discussed the impact of the changing centers of power in the international system on the Muslim world and the possibility of a new strategy for the Muslim world in this transforming multilayered system.

Wadah Khanfar, speaking within the scope of İLKE Agenda seminars, said that the American hegemony has weakened, Europe is different from what it was a hundred years ago, and the current system does not have the capacity to overcome the deficiencies. Khanfar argued that there are possibilities for us to think ideally at such a time, and emphasized that the Muslim world, in particular in the Middle East, does not have to embrace the paradigms of the West or stand in absolute opposition to it.

Speaking about the need to think beyond the nation-state and that the concept of the ummah is a brand built by Muslims, Khanfar stated that this concept should be handled on the right plane within the system. Emphasizing the need to establish regional coalitions independent of global powers against the US, China, and Russia through a gradual integration process in the Middle East, Khanfar added that although the European Union has created a structure similar to the ummah concept, Muslims cannot even imagine it.

Khanfar concluded his speech by stating that Islamic values should be transformed into human values and raised to the global level and that Islamic values are also useful in practice and that the Prophet was sent as a mercy not only to Muslims but to all humanity.

At the end of the seminar organized by TODA (Center for Social Thought and Research) within the scope of the ILKE Agenda, Khanfar's book "The First Spring: A Strategic and Political Reading on the Life of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)" was presented as a gift to 5 participants.
