Value-Based Leadership: An Islamic Perspective Seminar Held

Research Centre for Social Thought and Policy (TODAM) hosted Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Researcher Dr. Basil Mustafa at ILKE Foundation on May 9, 2022. Basil Mustafa made his presentation titled “Values-Based Leadership: An Islamic Perspective”. In the program, management and leadership theories, the relationship between Islam and leadership, the concept of authentic leadership, and the Prophet Muhammad's understanding of leadership are discussed.
Basil Mustafa started his presentation by mentioning there is a strong relationship between modern management theories and the concept of the value and emphasized that the concept of value is central to any leadership theory and business strategy. Dr. Mustafa showed that the concept of value-based leadership in modern theories exists in Siyer-i Nebi with examples from the life of our prophet Muhammad.
According to him, Prophet Mohammed's leadership played a crucial role in establishing the remarkable religious, moral, social, and economic transformations that occurred in his time and beyond, and throughout his life, he demonstrated a capacity for many leadership competencies proclaimed by contemporary leadership models.
