Yusuf Alkan was born in Istanbul in 1976. He completed middle school and graduated from a Qur'an course in 1992. He is engaged in the manufacturing, import, and wholesale trade of textile clothing accessories. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board at Akal Trade and Textile, a family-owned company. Yusuf Alkan is married and has three children.
