Prof. Dr. Ömer Torlak was born in Istanbul in 1961. He graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration at Istanbul University in 1982. He received his master’s degree in 1984 and his PhD in 1991, both in the field of marketing from Istanbul University. Until 1996, he worked in the private sector. Since then, he has held academic positions at Kırıkkale University, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, and Çankırı Karatekin University.

He served as the Rector of KTO Karatay University and as the President of the Turkish Competition Authority. He was also a member of the Scientific Board of TÜBİTAK. Prof. Torlak continues his academic work in the fields of marketing ethics, history of marketing, consumer culture, consumer behavior, and marketing research, and is currently a faculty member at Istanbul Ticaret University.

He is married and the father of three children.
