Mehmet Çakar was born in 1949 in Kemah, Erzincan. He began his business career in Istanbul and has actively participated in numerous non-governmental organizations and social responsibility projects.

He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tevhid Foundation, a founding member of YEKDER (Association for Informal Education and Culture), the Gönül Kuşağı Solidarity Association, and İGİAD (Turkey Association for Economic Enterprise and Business Ethics). He also serves as a board member of IBS (International Brotherhood Association) and is a founding member of the ILKE Foundation. Additionally, he is a co-founder of Derya Öncü College and Tohum Holding.

Mehmet Çakar is married with four children and currently serves as a Board Member of Tohum Holding.
