Elyesa Koytak, born in 1989 in Istanbul, is a graduate of Galatasaray High School and the Department of Sociology at Galatasaray University. He completed his master’s thesis in the Department of Sociology at Boğaziçi University. In June 2022, he defended his doctoral dissertation titled “The Transformation of Professions: Physicians and Lawyers” at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Department of Sociology. His dissertation was published as a book and received the 2023 TÜBA Scientific Authored Work Award.

His sociological research focuses on professions, social stratification and mobility, and the sociology of medicine, law, and literature. He is a member of the International Sociological Association (ISA). Koytak is currently a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at Istanbul Medeniyet University. In 2023, he served as the Director of TODAM (Center for Social Thought and Research) at the ILKE Foundation.
