Delegation from the İLKE Foundation
for Science Culture and Education visited non-governmental organizations, universities,
and research centres in Pakistan between 1-7 January 2022. This visit to different
universities, research centres, think tanks and NGOs in Pakistan was aimed at
developing ILKE’s international network and extending collaborations with
different institutions that share goals, activities and aims with ILKE.
On Sunday, January 2, a
meeting was held with Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri the Deputy Chairman of the
Board of Trustees of Al-Minhaj University. Since
Dr. Qadri's area of interest is Islamic Economics and Finance, he expressed his
interest to collaborate with ILKE’s Research Center for Islamic Economics (IKAM)
for joint events and publications.
As
a result of the meeting with Awais Raoof, the Chairman of Lahore University, it
was agreed that academic exchange programs or publication partnerships could be
realised with TODAM. Dr. Rabia Akhtar, the director of CSSPR was also present
at this meeting. The delegation then met with Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad
Gondal, dean of Shaikh Zaid Islamic Centre at the University of Punjab,
Pakistan's largest and oldest public university.
On
7 January, Friday, during the meeting with Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad, known
academician and scholar and rector of Riphah University, the possibility of
joint projects regarding Islamic ethics with IGIAD was discussed at length.
On
Friday, January 07, an MoU was signed between Allama Iqbal International Open University
(AIOU) and ILKE Foundation.
Visit
to Think-Tanks, NGOs & Educational Institutions In Pakistan
ILKE’s
representatives also visited the Sustainable Development Policy Institute
(SDPI) and met with its Chairman, Dr. Abid Qayum Sulehri with whom an MoU was
signed. Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) that has long been ILKE’s
international partner also hosted the delegation the same day where thoughtful
discussion was held in presence of IPS’s Chairman Khalid Rahman.
The
Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) hosted ILKE’s delegation on Monday and
their team showed interest in partnering with ILKE, especially STA’s capacity
development programmes.
The
delegation also met with senior management from Association for Academic
Quality (AFAQ) and Ghazali Education Trust, each of which are running free of
cost and affordable schools in hundreds of districts in Pakistan. ILKE’s team
also visited Pak-Turk Maarif schools in Islamabad.
The
delegation was also taken to Pakistan’s largest student body’s headquarters,
Islami Jamiat Talba Pakistan where they visited a research centre under
construction at famous scholar and visionary Abul Ala Maududi’s residence as
well as his grave.
An
Interview with Turkey-Urdu Channel
Turkey-Urdu
is the largest Pakistani web-based media outlet focusing on Pak-Turk affairs
and contemporary news of the Muslim world. ILKE delegation met with President
Muhammad Hassaan, the director of the channel who arranged an interview for the
guests in which they spoke about civil society in Turkey and ILKE’s activities.

President of Jamaat-E-Islami Pakistan, Hon’ Siraj Ul Haq
The
president of Jamaat-e-Islamic Pakistan, hon’ Siraj-ul-Haq very kindly accepted
the delegation at his office in Mansoora, Lahore where he presented a gift of
traditional Pakistani shawl to both the guests.
