EPAM Visited Vocational and Technical High Schools
EPAM Director Selim Tiryakiol and his team of researchers
visited Istanbul Airport and İbrahim Özaydın Vocational and Technical Anatolian
High Schools.
The first visit was to Talha Bektaş, the principal of
Istanbul Airport Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, where we
talked about the importance of vocational and technical high schools, their
position in the society and the details of the academic and practical education
students receive. Afterwards, we examined the workshops and laboratories in the
high school.
As EPAM, we visited these high schools, where students and
teachers produce and learn together, and witnessed the transformation that
vocational and technical high schools are undergoing. The fact that students
are ranked in many national and international competitions and become
sought-after employees for companies and industry after graduation is proof
that these schools train qualified students. Despite all this, school
administrators say that the negative perception of vocational high schools in
society has not yet been overcome and that they are making great efforts to
combat this.
