The establishment of the Turkish National Education Academy (MEA) represents a significant recent development in the country's educational policy agenda. The recently established MEA has attracted attention in the field of education, both for its potential benefits and for the challenges it may present. This report presents a critical analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the MEA established by Turkey in line with its goal of creating a sustainable education system. Teacher training represents a fundamental element of national education policies, shaped by a complex interplay of cultural, political, and social dynamics. This report presents a review of the most recent literature on the establishment of an MEA, together with an analysis of the contributions that the academy is expected to bring to the Turkish education system.
Furthermore, the report considers exemplar educational models from a variety of international contexts and examines the prospective challenges that may emerge during the MEA formation process. Based on these evaluations, recommendations are presented for policymakers, and thoughts are shared on the innovations that MEA can provide in teacher training processes in Turkey and its contributions to sustainability. This study provides a detailed analysis of the potential effects of MEA, which is an important step that can reshape the teacher training system in Turkey, on educational policies and practices, and suggests solutions.
