Yaman holds bachelor's degrees in Theology from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Sociology from Anadolu University, and Journalism from Marmara University. He completed both his master’s and PhD in the field of Sociology of Religion at the Institute of Social Sciences, Istanbul University.
He conducted research as a visiting scholar in several institutions abroad, including the Department of Political Science at the University of Utah, USA (2006–2007); the Department of Catholic Theology at the University of Tübingen, Germany (2010); and the Department of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany (2012).
He is the author of Islam and Civil Society in Europe (2017) and Migration and Society (2019). His research interests include migration policies, civil society, social change, media, identity, and radicalization. Yaman currently continues his academic work as a faculty member at Istanbul Medeniyet University.
