Dr. Munir Fasheh Hosted at ILKE Foundation
Palestinian thinker Dr. Munir Fasheh was hosted at ILKE Foundation. During the meeting, held under the auspices of Attorney Ahmet Sait Öner, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ILKE Foundation, Dr. Fasheh was briefed on the Foundation’s ongoing activities and areas of work.
The meeting also included a presentation of ILKE Foundation’s Arabic-language report, the Outlook of Palestine, and its English-language Boycott Report. The content of the reports, their contributions to the Palestinian question, and their relevance in the context of current developments were discussed.
As part of the visit, Dr. Fasheh shared his reflections on the concept of “mujawarah”, a notion on which he has worked for many years. Encompassing meanings such as being side by side, neighbourliness, and proximity, “mujawarah” was described by Fasheh as a concept that strengthens a sense of belonging and the consciousness of living together among people. He further stated that this understanding offers a significant possibility for the reconstruction of societies.
During the meeting, Fasheh also drew attention to the richness of our civilization and language, noting that many concepts have been detached from their original meanings and emptied of their substance by Western thought. Emphasizing the need to reconsider concepts in light of their authentic meanings, Fasheh underlined that circles of knowledge and conversation play an important role in this process.
Referring to the significance of mujawarah circles for societies, Fasheh highlighted the importance of establishing regular circles of learning, even if held once a week or twice a month. The meeting concluded with mutual reflections and expressions of goodwill.
